Sponsored by the "Group of 8" - a group of environmental activists, and the Abbotsford Downtown Business Association (ADBA). The carved wood bench is located in historic downtown Abbotsford and allows people to sit on both sides to look , to talk, to relax and become part of the community. Carved on the wooden backrest, which is in the shape of Mount Baker, are on one side the animals of the Fraser River Valley with Eagle, Bear, Beaver and Salmon and on the other side the crops of the Fraser River Valley, on the bottom there is Salmon all around. The carved rope around the entire seating area is symbolizing the ties in our community. The wood carving bench toured various community events and locations for over 20 months and bears the signatures of hundreds of individuals , who are dedicated to caring and protecting our precious natural environment.

Talking Sticks are carved from Western Red Cedar with Abalone, Copper, Brass and Shell Inlay. They  were commonly used in council circles to designate who had the right to speak.
